And now I must have it. Before there was the X5M, there was !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . 355hp V8, 0-60 in six and a half seconds, and it looks fantastic inside and out. If I had to buy a sub-$20,000 big family hauler, you’re looking at it. Actually, I’d take this over a period M3 any day.
Edit: this is what I get for including a 0-60 time in a for-sale car post. I know it’s not a rocket ship, but it’s also not slow. The speed (or lack of) is not why I’d buy this car, but the fact that it is a second and a half quicker than a normal I6 X5, and also as quick as many more modern family cars that aren’t as cool, are part of the reason I’m ok with it.

Our Sequoia does 0-60 in the same time. And is over 1,000 pounds heavier.

Right but back in 2005 this was impressive for an SUV.

The 4.6is is arguably better than the 4.8is, but both are stupid fast for what they are and 6.5s to 60 is a bit of a understatement, there are people who have gotten sub 6 seconds with stock versions on good tires.

I still prefer the Bimmer.

Counterpoint - both of these are 2 seconds faster to 60 for the same price.

I’d still prefer the X5.

I mean I get the practicality of it but you’d seriously take an suv over an e46 m3???

Yes. I find this cool. The E46 M3 is a phenomenal car but just kinda bores me. Right now, I’d rather DD this than an E46 M3.

To each their own. Its classier than a Jeep and fits more than a 3 series, but its not like its some hot rod.

I know.
The reason I get easily annoyed when people say “6.5 seconds isn’t really fast” is because some time ago, someone made a post asking what is the slowest car you would be comfortable driving. I said I wouldn’t really want to DD something slower than eight seconds. I was immediately bombarded with comments saying that 8 seconds is really quick, that nobody in their family has ever had a car that fast, and that I must be some sort of rich spoiled brat if I think I’m gonna live my whole life driving cars that blazingly fast and powerful. So when people from the same commentariat call out 6.5 seconds (which is what my car does as well) as being not really fast, I think back to that and it makes me mad. I realize it’s probably not the same individuals, but it still gets under my skin.

Ah okay, and I see your edit now. Yea I was assuming you were referring to the 0-60 time with your link “this beast”. IIRC both our cars are that time too and I wouldn’t call them beastly.
But certianly quick enough!

One of my friends had one of these...it was a beast. Sounded amazing too. Probably better options out there for the money for most people, but a cool vehicle for sure.

Totally. This is not a practical family vehicle, but it’s just close enough to one that you can try to justify it to someone else.

I appreciate it. I’ve seen many a person drain their accounts on cars like these.
